The Home Edit VS The Life Edit

Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

I’m a big fan of “The Home Edit” and “Sparks Joy” Netflix series. The agenda is to transform a messy home into an organized and beautiful home. What I love about the show is the “before” and “after” transformation part. You can see how the house owners are frustrated with their disorganized space at first. After the “magic” happened, not only the space would turn out organized, the owners would cry happy tears and go on like, “Wow, oh my god.”

In the first episode of “The Home Edit,” Clea and Joanna visit a doctor’s house. Before they knocked on the door, they said: “we’re not sure if she is going to welcome us, for she didn’t know we’re coming.” Turns out, it’s the doctor’s friend who contacted the hosts to give her a surprise. Of course, the doctor happily welcomes them in. They turned her messy closet turned into a dreamy closet in the end.

It came to me that, supposed our life is a house, Jesus come to knock on the doors, would we open up the door and welcome Him and let Him help you with the transformation?

Perhaps you will think, no way, my house is too messy – dishes are piling up in the kitchen sink, laundries piling up, weeds are overgrown in the garden. Let me tell you, He is so ready to do the transformation work with you, and you will be like, “wow, I can’t believe this,” just like on the show.

Or perhaps you will think – how much I need to pay for this service, it must be freakin’ expensive, I don’t have the time, the money, etc. Jesus already paid the price for you with his bloodshed on the cross. Sure, there will be price to pay, such as life adjustments to be made and bad habits to be quit. However, compared to God’s blessings for us, the price that we pay is only a fraction.

Jesus stands in front of your door, knocking. Would you open up the door and let him in for a life transformation?
